We leverage financial donations to help more kids in need get the basic things in life.

Improve morale with a volunteer day.  Inspire employees with a goods drive.  Show you care with a donation.  We can help!

$1 donated = $4.75 value of  goods out to help kids all over the Merrimack Valley

You are in good company!

From Jan 1 2009 to December 31, 2009 we helped more than 23,400 clients from more than 64 homeless shelters, child and other social service agencies to get more than $1 million in value of furniture and baby goods.  For every bed that went to a child we helped the environment.  TWP reduced the bulky waste from Lowell landfills by 530tons or about 1% saving the City of Lowell $37,000.  Click to see the list of agencies.

In our region there are many social service agencies.  Unfortunately, before our organization, caseworkers spent too much time trying to find goods so their clients could succeed.  Our 13,000 sq ft warehouse serves all the agencies in the region and all of their clients. From toothbrushes to refrigerators we supply the things that reduce the impact of poverty.

We provide the goods in support all the wonderful work of all social services agencies in our region.  Every child deserves a bed to sleep in and when clients get the basics they transition out of emergency mode and can begin to become sustainable.  Our goods are the leg up that helps many housing programs succeed because housing is not enough. A house is not a home without furniture, pots and pans, clothes and all the basics things.

Our ultimate goal is to be more financially self sustainable as we begin our 5th year.  We are working on a strategic plan and hope to launch an endowment campaign soon.   This year we have seen an increase in clients seeking furniture over last year.  Each month we help an average of 100 families to move from homelessness to homes with complete furnishings. Most are victims of fire, flood, foreclosure, eviction or spousal assault.

  • 85% of the clients helped are women and children
  • Domestic violence is involved with most cases
  • An average of 101 babies each month are now getting clothes, cribs, diapers and more.  Of those an average of 28 are born into abject poverty and we supply complete goods for them.
  • 880 beds were provided through our Beds 4 Kids program. Of these about 20% are sponsored by the public. Find out more

What makes The Wish Project different from other agencies?

  • We are a regional resource supporting the work of most local charities. We do not provide social work but rather like a food bank, we provide goods to help the other charities to deliver services more cost effectively.
  • We are private and independent with no faith or government affiliation.
  • All clients are pre-qualified to be financially needy by caseworkers
  • Providing furniture is directly related to them staying sustainable and out of the system for good.
  • Furniture banks greatly reduce the waste in landfills.  The best recycling is to put goods back into their original use.
  • We provide year round support of goods so that needy clients can stay sustainable once they move out of homelessness (backpacks in September, blankets in October and strollers in the spring).
  • We are a grassroots operation that has grown from a garage to large warehouse in 4 years.
  • Our monthly service projects help provide more than $550,000 worth of new goods.
We work to supply goods cost efficiently and with deep respect for: overworked caseworkers, donor's busy lives and every client's dignity.
